PESHAWAR: Pakistan suffered another blow before the tour of South Africa as batsman Fakhar Zaman aggravated a knee injury he picked up in October.

Pakistan will announce squad for the Test series against South Africa after conclusion of series against New Zealand. Fakhar Zaman was expected to get chance to play Tests in South Africa after the current openers, Mohammad Hafeez and Imamul Haq, did not show good form in the series against New Zealand. However, his injury means both the openers are most likely to retain their places.

The PCB says the 28-year old opener may take about five weeks to recover and he will certainly miss the Boxing Day Test in Centurion. Fakhar was not included in the Test squad against New Zealand after suffering injury during the second T20 against Australia in October.

No major changes are likely in the squad for the South Africa Test. However, Mohammad Aamir is likely to be recalled in the squad in place of Bilal Asif as conditions in South Africa will suite fast bowlers. Pakistan will play three Tests, five ODIs and three T20s during their tour to South Africa.
