Family festival concludes in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The two-day colourful and joyful family festival organised by the Pakistan Army in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has concluded.

A large number of families visited the festival and enjoyed it. The two-day festival was organised at Cantt area where stalls of food, garments, books and other items were installed which attracted a large number of visitors. A music programme was also arranged on the occasion which redoubled the joy of the visitors.

Station Commander Rao Imran Sartaj said at the concluding ceremony of the festival that it was very encouraging that the young generation was participating in positive and healthy activities and staying away from negative activities. He said more such events will be organised to provide entertainment to the people. He also praised the passion of the participants of the festival for making it successful.

Besides boys, a large number of girls also participated in the function and they put the local food and other items on display for the visitors.

Regional Sports Officer Anwar Kamal Barki said on the occasion that these festivals bring happiness to the region and provide good entertainment and healthy environment. He said the sports departments is taking various steps for arranging sports competitions in the region to unearth new talent and to bring the youth towards positive activities. He said sports activities must be organised on regular basis to keep the youth away from negative activities.

Anwar Kamal said women mostly remain confined to homes in our region that is why the family function was organised in Dera Ismail Khan to provide opportunity to women to come along with their families and enjoy the occasion.

A woman participant at the function said while talking to TNN that she thoroughly enjoyed the event. She said there are a lot of opportunities for men, but women don’t have many opportunities due to variety of reasons. She said such events will encourage the women to come out of their houses and take part in recreational and positive activities. She said such events are important to provide people a break from boring routine life.

On the occasion, the regional sports officer, district nazim and Member KP Assembly Faisal Amin Gandapur presented a shield to Brigadier Rao Imran Sartaj for organising the family festival.
