PESHAWAR, 25 November: The administration of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has restored the annual political scholarships for tribal students a few days back, said a representative of FATA Students Organization Shaukat Aziz on Friday.

He said that at present the scholarships are being given to the students of Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur and all the frontier regions.

The students of Kurram, South and North Waziristan and Orakzai Agency would be given from December 01, Shaukat Aziz revealed.

Under the political scholarship, each college student of FATA is given Rs. 5000 annual stipend while university student is provided with Rs. 6000 yearly.

Earlier the FATA Secretariat had suspended the scholarship program on the pretext of inappropriate monitoring system.

Tribal students staged several protest demonstrations across FATA for the restoration of the scholarship program.

Meanwhile, students of FATA have expressed jubilation over the restoration of scholarships but demanded increase in the scholarship amount.
