PESHAWAR, 31 May: The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) parliamentarians have decided to boycott President Mamnoon Hussain’s address to the joint session of parliament.
Fata parliamentary leader MNA Alhaj Shahji Gul Afridi said that the boycott was announced over the federal government’s decision to delay the Fata reforms. He said that the Fata MPs would also meet with all the opposition parties in the National Assembly and Senate and would invite them to join Fata parliamentarians in their protest over reforms issue. He said that some of the opposition members have already assured to join their protest in the upcoming session over the delay in Fata reforms.
Shahji Gul Afridi said that after boycotting the President Mamnoon Hussain’s address to the joint session of the parliament, they would plan to stage sit-in in front of the parliament.
PML-N MNA from Bajaur Agency Shahab Uddin Khan also announced to support the Fata parliamentarians decision to boycott of the parliament joint session. He said that some parliamentarians from Fata are not supporting their protest, however, all opposition parties have assured to support them in their protest.
