PESHAWAR, 13 November: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) should be consulted before making any decision on their future.

The JUI-F chief said this while heading a grand tribal Jirga in Peshawar on Thursday which was attended by the tribal people in large number. He said the FATA people displaced from their homes during the military operations should be sent back with dignity without further delay.

The Maulana said the tribal people should be taken into confidence before making any decision about them. He the political future of the tribal areas is linked with durable peace in the region. He said a bill forwarded by some FATA lawmakers in the National Assembly about reforms in FATA has created concerns among various circles. He said a consensus on reforms should be developed among the tribal people before introducing any such bill.

The Jirga empowered the Maulana to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and present proposals for establishment of durable peace in the region.
