PESHAWAR, 15 October: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) should be given their rights.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, the opposition leader said the sacrifices of the tribal people for security and solidarity of Pakistan are highly commendable. He said time has come to give all constitutional rights to the people of FATA.

The Pakistan People’s Party Senator Farhatullah Babar said on the occasion that the party co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari has written a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seeking support for the FATA Reforms Bill which has been tabled in the National Assembly. He said the people of FATA should decide whether they want a separate province or merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mr Babar also demanded extension of the jurisdiction of High Court and Supreme Court to tribal areas.
