PESHAWAR, 23 October: All FATA Political Alliance has demanded merger of tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the representatives of the political alliance said the tribal people should be given right to appeal in the courts. They said the tribal people should also have powers to make legislation.

The alliance leaders said the people of FATA were not allowed to do politics and had been kept under the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR). They said the time has come to give basic and constitutional rights to the people of tribal areas.

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Bajaur Agency chapter president Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid said on the occasion that the tribal leaders have discussed the issue with political leaders of Karachi, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and all of them have assured cooperation for reforms in FATA.

“We are very hopeful that the political leadership of the whole country will gather in Islamabad on 2 November to support Fata Reforms Bill in the Parliament,” the JI leader said. He added that he was confident that the bill will get backing of the majority in the National Assembly.
