FATA Political Alliance warns of protest movement against implementation of ‘Riwaj Act’

PESHAWAR, 04 March: While rejecting the implementation of ‘Riwaj Act’, the FATA Political Alliance on Saturday warned the federal government of initiating a protest movement against the implementation of the proposed ‘Riwaj Act’ to replace the draconian FCR law in the tribal areas.
Addressing a news conference in Peshawar press club, leaders of the Fata Political Alliance including Jamaat-e-Islami Fata chapter Ameer Sardar Khan questioned the implementation of the proposed ‘Riwaj Act’ to replace FCR law and said that they would condemn the reimplementation of the FCR law in the shape of ‘Riwaj Act’. They asked the government to extend the 1973 constitution to the region forthwith in order to bring FATA people at par with rest of the countrymen.
The political alliance leaders demanded of the federal government to merger the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before 2018 so that tribal people could elect their representatives for the KP provincial assembly. They also demanded 40 seats for Fata in the KP provincial assembly. Moreover, they also demanded share for tribal areas in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and include Fata in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
