PESHAWAR: Fata Secretariat, for the first time in tribal areas history, has started issuing birth certificate to children below 18 years of age in tribal areas.

Birth Certificate Registration Coordinator Habibullah Salarzai said that children under 18 years of age were being registered under the programme launched by the Fata Secretariat.

He said that birth registration would help them get jobs easily within and outside Pakistan. The officer said that parents should submit a form carrying their own and their children details.

“The certificate is being issued free of cost that takes only four days,” he added.

Earlier, parents in tribal areas used to submit a form with Nadra, he said, adding that children hailing from tribal areas but living in other parts of the country would be also be registered.
