PESHAWAR, 07 December: Following their boycott of classes for one week, the All Fata Teachers Association on Monday started second phase of their protest drive and shut down all educational institutions.

The protesting teachers moved to Islamabad for a grand sit-in to press the government accept their longstanding demand of service structure and scale promotion.

The Fata teachers have been demanding service structure and scale promotion on the pattern of the teachers of settled districts.

“We started our protest by boycotting classes but nobody bothered to listen to our grievances, that is the reason why we shut down schools,” one of the protesting teachers told TNN.

On the other hand, government schools students have complained that their annual exams are approaching while the teachers have refused to teach them. Parents of the students have also appealed to the government to accept the demands of the protesting teachers so that precious time of their children could not be wasted.
