DERA ISMAIL KHAN, 29 April: All Tribal Teachers Association has urged the government to upgrade all the teachers of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Talking to the media-persons at a local hotel, the president of the association, Khan Malik Mehsud, said they were contacting the offices concerned for the last four year to get the teachers of FATA upgraded but to no avail.
Setting a deadline of May 3, he warned of a complete boycott of classes if their demand was not accepted.
“A teacher never wants to discontinue educational activities at schools. He never wants to waste the time of his/her students [but we are left with no other option but to go on strike]. Our counterparts in Khyber Pakthunkhwa got upgradation in 2012, but in our case FATA Directorate sends a letter to the federal government which so far failed to yield any result due to bureaucratic red-tapism. Government is not sincere in addressing the issue of our upgradation,” he said.
