PESHAWAR, September 10: The federal government has approved 1.059 billion rupees for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan tribal region.
The Finance Minister, Mr Ishaq Dar, told media that people of the tribal areas had sacrificed a lot for the national interests and that their repatriation is a priority of the government.
He said that earlier the government had released funds worth 2.80 billion rupees in four instalments to the FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to assist the displaced families.
He said that prior to approving 1.059 billion rupees, the government had got records of the expenditures since June to September from the FDMA.
He said the government was providing 12,000 rupees each to the 60,000 registered displaced families monthly.
Last month the FDMA had sought 1.5 billion rupees from the federal government to continue the monthly stipends and other necessities to the IDPs.
