PESHAWAR: The federal government on Wednesday released Rs4.80 billion to finance the ongoing projects in tribal areas as first installment under Annual Development Programme.

A handout issued here by directorate Information stated the federal government has earmarked Rs24 billion for the development projects in erstwhile Fata of which Rs3.60 billion would be released to Fata Development Authority while the remaining amount will spent on uplift schemes in tribal districts.

The government has also earmarked a separate funds for mega projects that include Rs1.10 billion for Mohmand-Nahqi tunnel, Rs500 million for Ghallanai-Mohammad Gaht, Rs309 million for Chao Tangi dam in South Waziristan and Rs1.30 million for construction and repair of Zyara-Dabori Road in Orakzai.

The federal government will allocate Rs100 billion every year for development of the tribal areas under Fata Reforms package.
