JAMRUD: Dozens of female students of a middle school in Soor Kamar area of Jamrud tehsil blocked Pak-Afghan Highway for traffic to protest shortage of staff and facilities.

The protesting students were holding banners and placards inscribed with demands from the district administration to provide facilities to the schools.

They complained that there were only five teachers for hundreds of students in Government Middle School Sadiqeen of which two always remain absent from their duties.

They alleged that headmistress of the school mark their attendance in a register, adding that several complaints were lodged with District Education Officer but not action was taken.

The protesting students also marched from Babe-e-Khyber towards Education Department and chanted slogans against Ministry of Safron and threatened to protest outside Fata Secretariat and in Islamabad if their demands were not fulfilled.

Education Officer Jadoon Khan Wazir said that this school was a community school that was latter accepted as government middle school therefore there was no primary section. “Therefore there is no need for primary staff and class VI employees,” he said.
