KHAR: The first ever police station building has been inaugurated in Bajaur, while service cards have also been provided to local policemen.

TNN correspondent reported that it is the first ever building of a police station in Bajaur where complainants can file their cases. The inauguration ceremony of the police station building was organised on Thursday where Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ijaz Khan was chief guest, while Senator Hidayatullah Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Shahzad Kokab Farooq, Assistant Commissioner Khar Fazal Rahim, tribal elders Malik Abdul Aziz, Malik Muhammad Akbar, political leaders Akhunzada Chattan, Maulana Waheed Gul, Gul Afzal, local journalists and other people were in attendance.

After inauguration of the police station building, DIG Ijaz Khan gave service cards to the local policemen. Speaking on the occasion, Ijaz Khan said police highly values the sacrifices of tribal elders, security forces and other people for durable peace in Bajaur. He said passion and love of the people of Bajaur for peace in the region is commendable.

The DIG said the policemen of tribal districts will get all the facilities and incentives like police of other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said training on modern lines, weapons and other necessary equipment will be provided to the policemen of merged districts keeping in view the requirements for ensuring security in the area.

Ijaz Khan said work on construction of 10 police stations is underway in Bajaur. He said these police stations will start functioning as soon as the construction work is completed. He said the local policemen will get more facilities with the establishment of more police stations and they will be able to perform their duties in a more coordinated way.

The DIG visited different sections of the newly established police station and expressed satisfaction over quality of work. He was given briefing by the local police officials over functioning of the police system in the area. The DIG also visited the Martyrs Monument, presented solute and laid a floral garland over it. He also inspected the police control room and police training centre. He met with the trainee policemen and talked briefly to them about the progress of training.
