UPPER DIR, 29 February: The first-ever Lowari Top snow jeep rally jointly organized by the Pakistan Army and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to promote tourism concluded here on Sunday.

As many as 50 four-wheelers from different parts of the country participated in the rally. The rally, which started form Peshawar two days back, ended at the border between Upper Dir and Chitral.

In the third and final stage of the rally, the jeepers started the race from Dir side of Lowari Tunnel and returned to the finishing line via the Lowari Top after covering 20.9-km difficult mountainous terrain.

Yasir Khan of Frontier 4/4 Club got first position in the rally whereas Shah Nawaz Khan of Frontier Club Peshawar grabbed second and Rahatullah got third position.

A large number of people had come to witness the concluding session fo the rally.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Malakand division Maj Gen Nadir Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that the event was organized such to promote peace and tourism in the region and portray a soft image of Pakistan. He said the military operation against the terrorists is in its last phase and the country will be cleared from the menace soon.

He announced to make Lowari Top jeep rally a regular feature to attract more tourists.
