PESHAWAR: In a historic development, a sports festival specifically for transgender persons will be organised at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on 15 May.
Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting in Peshawar on Thursday which was attended by District Sports Officer Jamshed Baloch, Pakhtunkhwa Archery Club president Sara Khan and TransAction Alliance president Farzana Jan.
Competitions in cricket, football, athletics, tug-of-war, musical chairs and archery will be organised on the occasion. Sara Khan has been named organising secretary of the event to make the first sports festival for transgender persons of KP a success.
Jamshed Baloch said the purpose of the event is to provide healthy entertainment opportunity to transgender persons and bring smile on their faces.
Farzana Jan thanked Jamshed Baloch for his efforts to organise the event. Farzana said the transgender community is very happy over this development. Farzana said it is a huge step for transgender persons and look to this event as a great opportunity.
