PESHAWAR, 29 September: At least five people were killed and 19 others wounded when a suicide bomber detonated himself near an imambargah in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul on Friday, officials said.

Police said that the blast took place in Qilla Fatahullah area of the capital city. The suicide bomber targeted a group of people, gathered for a majlis, usually held during Muharram.

Police added that one attacker had been arrested. Afghanistan’s interior ministry also confirmed the blast.

The Islamic State (IS or ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack, whereas the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said his group has nothing to do with the strike.
