PESHAWAR, 10 July: Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the first match of the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series in Dambulla International Cricket Stadium tomorrow.

According to Pakistan time, the match will start at 9:30 am. Azhar Ali and Angelo Mathews would lead Pakistani and Sri Lankan teams, respectively. Wahab Riaz could not join the squad due to hand injury while fast bowler Muhammad Irfan staged a comeback in the ODI cricket as he got injured in the World Cup.

Being ninth on the International Cricket Control (ICC) ranking, it is essential for Pakistan to win not only ODI series against Sri Lanka but also the next series against Zimbabwe to qualify for Champions Trophy, set for 2017 in England. The first eight teams in the ICC ranking till September would qualify for Champions Trophy. Pakistan has already won the three-match test series against Sri Lanka, 2-1.
