Five of a family killed in Peshawar hotel explosion

PESHAWAR: Five people of a family lost their lives in an explosion at a hotel in Peshawar on Friday.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jamilur Rehman told media persons that the blast occurred at the third floor of Afindi Hotel in Hashtnagri. He said the victim family belong to Hangu. He said the dead include two women, two minor girls and a 22-year-old boy. Two brothers, Kamran and Aamir, who were critically injured in the explosion, have been shifted to Rawalpindi for treatment. The victim family had come to Peshawar for some engagements and stayed the night at the hotel.

The CCPO said the blast apparently happened due to gas leakage, however, police are investigating the incident from different angles.

Hospital sources said the deceased minor girls are aged between three and five years. The explosion also damaged vehicles parked outside the hotel.
