MIRANSHAH: Five soldiers were injured in a remote control blast in Speen Wam area of North Waziristan tribal district on Thursday.

Local sources said by a remote control bomb blast happened outside a check post near the Pak-Afghan border, injuring the five soldiers. The injured soldiers were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. They were identified as Havaldars Ameerul Hasan and Ameer Ahmed, Lance Naik Mukamal Shah, and Sepoys Waheedullah and Sheraz.

No militant group claimed responsibility for the blast till filing of this report.

The incidents of landmine blasts and target killings are on the rise in North Waziristan since the return of displaced people. The people of North Waziristan had recently staged a massive sit-in for several days against target killings and landmine explosions.

Although, North Waziristan was mainly cleared of militants in the military operation Zarb-e-Azb, but they still have some presence and attack the security forces occasionally through remote control and landmine explosions.
