PESHAWAR: Five soldiers were martyred in an attack by militants on their check post in South Waziristan tribal district on Friday.
Official sources said terrorists attacked a check post of the security forces in Deela Mazarai area of Sra Rogha tehsil. The sources said five soldiers were martyred and another was injured in the attack.
The attack was carried out on the check post of 223 Wing of the Frontier Corps (FC). The martyred and injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital.
The security forces launched a search operation in the area after the attack. However, there was no word about any arrest.
Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.
On February 16, three terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by the security forces in North Waziristan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the IBO was carried out in Mir Ali area. The operation was carried out over credible information about presence of terrorists. Three terrorists associated with Aleem Khan Khushali group were killed in the operation.
On February 15, two soldiers were martyred while eight others were injured in an attack on the security forces in South Waziristan.
Sources said a convoy of the security forces was attacked at Wana Bypass Road near Speen Jumaat in which two soldiers were martyred, while eight others were injured.
On February 12, four soldiers were martyred in an attack by terrorists on a security forces post in South Waziristan.
According to ISPR, the security forces responded promptly to the attack and killed four of the attackers during the raid in the Makeen area.
On February 03, four terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were martyred during an operation in North Waziristan.
According to the ISPR, the security forces observed presence of terrorists in a compound in Mir Ali. “As soon as the troops cordoned off the area, terrorists opened fire. During intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed,” the military’s media wing said.
During the conduct of operation, Naib Subedar Aminullah and Sepoy Sher Zamin embraced martyrdom, while four soldiers got injured.
