UPPER DIR, 26 June: Ten people have died in flash flood in Kohistan area of Upper Dir.

The rainwater caused flash flood in Biar area of Kohistan, situated 65 kilometres off Upper Dir yesterday evening, which washed away several people. Police said 10 bodies, including two women and four children, have been retrieved so far.

The gushing floodwater also washed away a mosque, 10 houses and 30 shops along with belongings. The local people joined the police and Levies officials in the rescue work and retrieved bodies from the floodwater.

Various areas of Upper Dir had been receiving intermittent rains for the last three days.
