PESHAWAR, September 11: Floods have now entered Multan district in Punjab province after traversing Jhang and southern region of the province.
Members of the committee, formed by the Punjab government to monitor situation of flood, said they were making arrangements to alleviate the intensity of floods and resultant losses in Multan city.
The provincial government’s cabinet committee also said that Jhang area had been secured from huge losses although flood had entered most of the area.
The committee has reported that 1.8 million people have been affected by floods and a big number of people have been rescued and necessary items provided to them.
It said 16 helicopters and 550 boats were being used in the relief and rescue operation in the flood-hit areas.
About 450 people have died during floods in Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
