NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Due to recent rain and floods, dozens of houses were damaged, while standing crops on 120 Kanal of farmlands were completed destroyed in North Waziristan on Wednesday.

Initial reports show that four houses were completely destroyed due to floods.

The local people have asked the government to compensate them against the loss incurred by natural calamity. After hours-long rains, flooded in the River Tochi inundated village Kasa in Tabi area, due to which dozens of house were damaged. Four houses were also caved in however; people of the area have made their escape to safer areas due to which no loss of life was reported. However, standing crops especially wheat crop on 120 Kanal of land were destroyed.

The floods affected people are now under the open sky, so far, neither the districts administration nor the disaster management authority has extended any support in this difficult hour.

Local people, Muhammad Younis Khan, Ikram Uddin, Muhammad Illyaz and Muhammad Roz has demanded the government to immediately provide tents to the affected families and compensation against the loss incurred by floods.

One killed three injured in roof collapsed incident

BAJAUR: One person was killed and three others were wounded when roof of their house collapsed due to rain in Khar town, officials and residents told on Wednesday. They said that the incident occurred in a congested street of Khar town, the headquarters of Bajaur tribal district.

The neighbouring people reached the house after they heard the sound of roof collapse and retrieved the victims from the rubble. The residents told that Rafiullah, 13-year- has died on the spot while Lal Bacha, his wife and another son Usman Khan were critically wounded in the incident.

Later, the injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Khar for treatment. Meanwhile, according to the reports collected from different parts of the district, the ongoing heavy rain and hail storm have damaged wheat crop and vegetables in several areas. The local resident told that Khar, Salarzai and Mamond were the worst affected areas where wheat crop and vegetables standing at a large number of land have badly affected due to rain.
