FO summons ambassador Hale following deadly road accident involving US Diplomat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan summoned US Ambassador David Hale to FO following the killing of a Pakistani citizen by a US official.

The foreign office statement says that Hale assured to fully cooperate in the investigation of the fatal road accident.

During the meeting, FO spokesperson Muhammad Faisal said that “conveyed that justice will take its course in accordance with the law of the land and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations 1961.”

A day earlier, a speedy car driven by the Col Joseph Emanuel Hall, defence and air attaché at the US embassy hit a motorbike at Margalla Road as a result a man was killed and another received injuries.

The police immediately rushed on the spot and arrested US colonel and shifted him and his car to the Kohsar Police Station Islamabad. An FIR has been registered against the diplomat on the complaint of victim Ateeq Baig’s father.

22 year old Ateeq hailed from Talhar Village and his body was handed over to the family members.

On the other side, The US Embassy spokesperson Richard W.Snelsire through a message expressed deep sympathy to the family of the deceased and those injured in a tragic accident involving a US Embassy vehicle on Saturday. Embassy officials are cooperating with local authorities who are investigating the accident.
