Dengue fever on rise in KP

PESHAWAR: Four patients on Tuesday tested positive with dengue symptoms, officials at KP Health Department confirmed on Tuesday.

The officials said that 58-year Zar Wali of Achini area of Peshawar was shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar where he tested positive with dengue larva in his blood.

A team was sent to the area where three more persons were tested positive with dengue while found dengue larva in 10 houses.

The team launched a fumigation drive in the area and an awareness campaign to educate people how to avoid outbreak of the mosquito-born disease.

Around 22 cases of dengue have been reported in KP of which 16 were affected in other provinces including Sindh. The officials warned people to take precautionary measures and said that temperature below 40 degree Celsius and intermittent rains could lead to outbreak of the disease.

Last year around 60 persons had died due to dengue outbreak in Peshawar.
