SADDA, 4 December: A free medical camp was organised in Kurram Agency near the Pak-Afghan border on Saturday where treatment facility and medicines were provided to over 2,000 patients.
Agency Surgeon Maeen Begum and Assistant Political Agent Shahid Ali Khan said the camp was organised with the cooperation of the FATA Secretariat in Tari Mangal and Karakhela areas where people suffering from chest and throat infections and other diseases were provided treatment and medicines. Female doctors were also part of the medical camp to provide treatment to women patients. They said the purpose of arranging the medical camp was to provide treatment to the people at their doorstep.
The area people expressed happiness over the free medical camp and said such camps should be organised on a regular basis.
Sajid Ali, a local resident, said it was the first time that a free medical camp was organised in the area.
“Karakhel has population of over 400 people and it is first time since the creation of Pakistan that a free medical camp has been arranged in the area. Treatment was provided to 445 male and female patients on Saturday which is a very encouraging step,” he told TNN.
