PESHAWAR, 9 December: Aurat Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), organised a function regarding domestic violence and early marriages at a local hotel in Peshawar on Friday.
A drama was presented on the occasion which highlighted the issues of domestic violence and early marriages. Besides women, eunuchs and social activists also attended the function.
Faheema, a woman participant of the seminar, told TNN that the parents should not arrange marriage of their failed or drug addict children because it ruins the life of the girl.
“Only those men should enter wedlock who are successful in their lives and don’t indulge in the use of drugs. Child marriages should also be discouraged to avoid complications. The theatre at the event here provided useful information to participants,” she said.
After the function, a walk was also organised to create awareness about women rights.
These functions are part of the ‘Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence’ which run from 25 November to 10 December.
