TIMERGARA, October 10: A natural gas project has been completed at a cost of 3 billion rupees in Malik Abad, Haji Abad and Balambat areas in Lower Dir district and gas supply has been started to houses.
On 9 October, the head of Senate committee on water and power and Awami National Party leader Senator Zahid Khan told the inaugural ceremony of gas supply that the scheme would be expanded to other adjacent areas in future as well.
He said the gas supply to houses would assist the women in cooking and other chores, and that it would also help stop deforestation and control cutting of trees for use as fuel.
“We thank the authorities for inaugurating gas supply to our houses. It will facilitate us much,” said residents of the area.
Another resident said, “It was a longstanding demand of the local residents but today it materialised.”
