BANNU, August 18: A gathering was held in Bannu to remember the Speena Tangi and Babari martyrs.

Poets of Waziristan staying in Bannu nowadays participated in the event. The gathering was organised by Progressive Writers Union.

On the occasion, the poets explained the current affairs and social problems in their poetry. President of the union, Mr Muhib, told TNN, “Our poets are trying to broaden the vision of people through their writings and to promote progressive views among them.”

The incident of Speena Tangi Bannu took place on 24 August, 1930, while the Babari incident in Charsadda district took place on 12August, 1948 in which up to 1000 people had dead and many injured.
