PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Wednesday accepted his defeat and congratulated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shaukat Ali on his victory.

According to unofficial results, Shaukat Ali got 87,895 votes and clearly defeated Ghulam Ahmad Bilour who got 42,476 votes.

Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who is a former federal minister, said the results indicate that the PTI chief Imran Khan is a favourite leader of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said being a democratic person, he admits his defeat.

Bilour expressed gratitude to the party workers for giving their support in the contest against the PTI.

Meanwhile, Arbab Alamgir of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) also conceded his defeat in Peshawar and congratulated the PTI.
