NOWSHERA: A girls school has been closed in Nowshera for six days after two teachers were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Local sources said coronavirus tests of two lady teachers of Government Primary School No. 1 Dagai, Pabbi, have come back as positive after which the said school has been closed for six days.
Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza said a total of four coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Nowshera during the last 24 hours, and the patients have been quarantined at their homes. He said 1,038 coronavirus cases have surfaced in Nowshera so far and 987 of them have recovered.
The deputy commissioner said it has been decided to conduct coronavirus tests of all the staff and students of Government Girls Primary School No. 1 Dagai.
On October 08, four cases of coronavirus surfaced in the schools of Lakki Marwat.
Focal Person Dr Muhammad Ashfaq said the affected schools include Government Girls High School Landiwah, Government Higher Secondary School Landiwah and Government Middle School Nasr Din Begukhel where two male and one female students were affected. An employee of Town Tajazai was diagnosed with coronavirus.
On October 05, Peshawar’s Khyber Medical University (KMU) was closed after coronavirus cases of seven students came back as positive.
A spokesman for the university said the decision of closure of the university for two weeks was taken for safety of students after emergence of coronavirus cases. He said six male and one female student were diagnosed with coronavirus.
On October 03, the KP government closed five educational institutions after emergence of coronavirus cases in government and private schools. The educational institutions which were closed included four government schools and one private school.
On September 29, coronavirus cases surfaced in three schools in Lakki Marwat where teachers and students were infected.
On September 26, two schools were sealed completely, while another school was closed partially in Hangu after coronavirus tests of some teachers and students came back as positive.
Deputy Commissioner Hangu Mansoor Arshid said one teacher, principal and three students of Government Higher Secondary School Block Ibrahimzai were diagnosed with coronavirus.
On September 17, 10 employees of a school in Nowshera were diagnosed with coronavirus.
