DI KHAN, 29 January: The Gomal University of Dera Ismail Khan has allegedly issued thousands of fake B.A./B.Sc. degrees, it is revealed.

The scandal came to limelight after a girl, Salma’s degree was sent to the university for verification.

As per details, Salma was employed on the basis of her B.Sc. degree. The organization sent her degree to the Gomal University for verification. The university administration in return revealed that Asma had not qualified the exams and the degree was declared as unverified.

Sources in the university administration revealed that during the past few years, more than 5000 fake degrees (mostly B.A./B.Sc.) have been issued to those students who did not pass their exams.

The sources further alleged that fake degrees have been issued on payment of Rs25,000 to 150,000 bribe. They added that some of the students had fraudulently increased their total marks to ensure top position.

Meanwhile, the vice chancellor of the university, Dr. Sarwar Chauhdry rejected the allegations as baseless and constituted an inquiry committee comprising senior professors to probe the matter. The sources told that the vice chancellor has also convened an emergency meeting of the whole staff of the examinations section.
