PESHAWAR, 22 December: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has announced to resume the annual scholarships of tribal students.

The governor made this announcement on the demand of the students on the occasion of concluding ceremony of Aman Sports Festival in Landikotal, Khyber Agency on Wednesday. The governor assured the students that the scholarship will resume soon after fulfilment of necessary formalities.

The university students belonging to FATA were receiving Rs6,000 annually, while the college students were receiving Rs5,000 scholarships, which were stopped by the FATA Secretariat this year. The tribal students had staged several protests against the stoppage of the scholarships.

Meanwhile, the governor also laid the foundation stone of a sports ground near the Landikotal High School. The project has been included in the annual development programme which will cost Rs23 million.
