Govt announces Rs50 million, jobs for family of SP Tahir Dawar

PESHAWAR: State Minister for Interior Shahryar Afridi on Tuesday announced that family of the murdered SP Tahir Dawar will be given Rs50 million and jobs.

Speaking at a press conference, the minister said that the government and state was responsible to take care of heirs of the martyred security personnel. Inspector General Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and SP Dawar’s brother were also present on the occasion.

SP Tahir Dawar was kidnapped from Islamabad on October 26 and his body was recovered in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The minister said that compensation was given as per instruction of the prime minister and directed formation of a parliamentary committee to review progress in the investigation in the murder. The committee will have three members from treasury as well as opposition.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also announced Rs15 million compensation for the family.
