ISLAMABAD: The federal government has discontinued the provision of offering a government job to a family member of a civil servant who passes away during service under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package.

According to sources, the Establishment Division has issued an official memorandum directing all ministries and divisions to implement the new decision. The notification states that the facility has been withdrawn in compliance with the Supreme Court's ruling on October 18, 2024, and the decision will be effective from that date.

However, all other benefits and entitlements under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package for the families of deceased civil servants will remain intact.

The Establishment Division has clarified that the ruling does not apply to the families of law enforcement personnel who are martyred in acts of terrorism. Additionally, this directive will not affect appointments made before the Supreme Court's decision.
