PESHAWAR: In a relief for the people, the government has reduced the prices of petroleum products for the month of September.
The government has reduced price of high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6.37 per litre and now its new price will be Rs106.57 per litre. The price of petrol has been decreased by Rs2.41 per litre and now it costs Rs92.83; light diesel price has been increased by Re0.59 to Rs75.96 per litre and price of kerosene has been reduced by Re0.46 to Rs83.50 per litre.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the lower prices as per the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). The new prices are applicable from today (Saturday).
The existing tax rates on these petroleum products remain unchanged. Currently, the government is charging 22 percent general sales tax (GST) on HSD, 9.5 percent on petrol, 6 percent on kerosene and 1 percent on light diesel.
