PESHAWAR, 26 April: The Grand Jirga organised by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) in the provincial metropolis has called on the government to repatriate all the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) as soon as possible.

The JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) president Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Awami National Party (ANP) leaders Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Afrasiab Khattak attended the jirga.

The political leaders while addressing the jirga stated that terrorism was imported to FATA from other countries. They said it is time to get rid of the terrorists.

The speakers said terrorism has spread in all Pakhtuns-inhabited areas including FATA and time has come now to compensate these areas. They said billions of rupees come to Pakistan from abroad in the name of tribal areas but that money is being spent in Punjab and Islamabad.

The jirga demanded the government to stop forceful implementation of laws on the FATA people and include them in the decision-making process of the country.
