PESHAWAR, June 4: The gunsmiths making light arms have asked the government to restore their transportation licences so that they can sell their arms in other cities as well.
The artisans from several arms factories blocked Sher Shah Suri Road by staging a rally in front of the Peshawar Press Club.
The demonstrators said the government had suspended their transportation licences for the last 11 months, which may close several arms factories.
One of the protesters told TNN, “Our business is legal but the authorities have deprived us of transport licences, which are necessary to sell our arms in other cities. We are going to close our factories and hundreds of employees will lose jobs. We appeal to the government to solve our problems.”
