PESHAWAR: The first flight carrying Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia took off from the Peshawar Airport on Saturday.

A private airline flight took off from Peshawar Airport at 4:00pm (PST), marking the beginning of the Hajj flights operation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The flight took off with 170 pilgrims onboard for its destination to Madina in Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims first gathered at the Haji Camp in Phase-7, Hayatabad, and then taken via special buses to the airport. The police mobile vans were escorting the vehicles of the pilgrims.

Media reports said another flight of a private airline was also scheduled to take off at 11:00am on Saturday, but the schedule was changed after the airline failed to pay outstanding dues.
