HANGU, 17 November: The nurses and technicians at the District Headquarters Hospital Hangu have refused to attend their duties over lack of security and other facilities.

The protesting nurses and technicians told TNN that there is no proper security at the hostel and hospital for them due to which they and their families always remain concerned for their wellbeing. They also complained about lack of clean drinking water and other facilities at the hospital.

They said the duties of nurses and technicians are assigned without their consent and they are also not entitled to hard area allowance despite bad law and order situation in Hangu. They said they will continue their protest till resolution of their problems.

“The administration is cutting our conveyance allowance and they are also making recoveries of the last 18 months which is unjust,” a protesting nurse told TNN. She said there is no facility of clean drinking water, electricity or gas at the hostel.

Another nurse said they have not been provided security during duties in the emergency ward. “A single female nurse performs duty in the emergency ward during three shifts without any security guard or assistant due to which they feel extremely insecure,” she said.

The patients at the hospital are facing many difficulties due to protest of nurses and technical staff.
