Leaders and representatives of 40 countries are participating in the conference. Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz is representing Pakistan in the conference.
Sartaj Aziz reached Amritsar on Saturday evening and met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the moot on Sunday. Media reports said both the leaders discussed peace and development prospects in Afghanistan.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shook hands with the adviser at a dinner on Saturday night and inquired about the wellbeing of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
It is expected that the conference will discuss contentious issues in the region, including the Pak-India tension.
