PESHAWAR: Huge quantity of narcotics were recovered in two separate actions in Gwadar and Rawalpindi on Thursday.

In Gwadar, Coast Guards on a secret information recovered 2,200 kilograms hashish hidden under sand on the beach in Pasni. A spokesman for the Coast Guards said the hashish was to be smuggled abroad through the sea route. He said the value of the seized hashish in the international market is Rs3.38 billion.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on a tip off recovered a huge quantity of narcotics from a truck at No. 26 Chungi in Rawalpindi.

The ANF Intelligence said the hashish was to be smuggled to Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Faisalabad. The narcotics included 50kg opium packed in 42 packets and 14kg hashish.

Two suspected smugglers Nadeem Sajid and Zahid Mehmood were also arrested.
