JAMRUD, 27 May: The political administration of Khyber Agency seized a huge quantity of narcotics during a raid last night.

Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Fahad Wazir told media persons that the raid was conducted in Rekali area where 390 kilograms hashish, 29 kilograms heroin and 32 kilograms opium was recovered from a cave. He said the smugglers had concealed the drugs in the cave for onward smuggling to settled areas of the country.

“We received a tip off that drugs were being smuggled through the caves in Jamrud. Most of these drugs came from Afghanistan. We conducted a raid at a cave at 12:30am last night. Our tehsildar led the operation and recovered a huge quantity of drugs from the cave but the smugglers fled the scene,” Mr Wazir said.
