HANGU, June 12: The internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Kurram and Orakzai agencies living in Hangu district staged protest against lack of security measures for the camps.
The demonstrators told journalists in front of the Khwaja camp that they were displaced from their area and now they were also facing problems in camps.
One of the protesters told TNN, “We are being warned that we have to vacate this camp. In Tirah valley, situation is not peaceful, so we came here but there is no security for us at the camp. Previously, FC men were deployed here for security but now they have gone. We request the government to provide us security.”
Some miscreants attacked the camp with rockets and also warned the IDPs to vacate the camp two days ago.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Hangu, Mr Naeem Anwar, said the police were already there for security of the camp and that now they had forwarded the demand to the commissioner to deploy an FC platoon there.
