IED blasts continue to claim lives in North Waziristan

MIRANSHAH, 08 February: An IED blast claimed the life of a minor kid while another was injured in Madi Khel village, Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan agency, officials said here on Thursday.

The officials added that the incident took place when children were playing outside their homes. “A five-year old child was killed on the spot while another seven-year old was critically injured in the blast, who was rushed to tehsil headquarters hospital in Mir Ali,” an official informed, adding the injured child was later shifted to Bannu.

The incidents of IEDs blast have increased both in North and South Waziristan agencies, particularly after the return of the internally displaced tribesmen and have claimed many precious lives.

The local tribesmen have been demanding of the political administration and the security forces to de-mine the areas. It is also one of the major demands of the participants of the protest sit-in, organized by the tribal youth in Islamabad for the last one week.

A representative delegation of the tribal youth called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the other day in Islamabad and apprised him of their problems. The premier assured the delegates that process of demining of the tribal areas had already been started and it would soon be completed.
