PESHAWAR, 23 May: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani has constituted a committee to mitigate the grievances of the internally-displaced persons (IDPs).
He was talking to a representative delegation of the North Waziristan IDPs yesterday who informed the IGP that the uprooted persons who are going back home are required to get a verification certificate from police. They said that the police refused to give these certificates to a number of IDPs due to certain suspicions.
Taking prompt action, the IGP constituted a 14-member committee of the Dawar and Wazir tribes of NWA, which would assist the police while they hold proceedings in the process of verification of certificates. In this regard, the provincial police chief also issued the directions to the district police of Bannu to involve the committee members in verification certificate process.
