MARDAN, 14 February: The district administration of Mardan has given one-week deadline to the owners of illegal petrol pumps to complete their documents and sell petrol on prescribed rates.
Deputy Commissioner Imran Sheikh headed a meeting in this regard on Monday which was attended by the local government representatives, officials of the district administration, Petroleum Ministry, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and journalists. The Petroleum Ministry officials revealed in the meeting that more than half petrol pumps in Mardan are working illegally. The OGRA official, Sajjad said the petrol pump owners are selling petrol on higher prices in Mardan on the pretext that they spend lots of money on transportation of oil from Peshawar to Mardan and the oil companies don’t pay them for it.
The deputy commissioner asked all the petrol pump owners to get their documents right within a week and sell petrol on prescribed rates. He said the petrol pumps violating the directives will be sealed.
“We have prepared a strategy to act against illegal petrol stations. The petrol stations not obtaining No Objection Certificate from the government and not paying taxes will face action,” he told TNN.
