Imran Khan becomes 22nd PM of Pakistan, promises strict accountability

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been elected the 22nd prime pinister of Pakistan and promised to bring back looted wealth from abroad. He secured 176 votes against Pakistan Muslim League candidate Shehbaz Sharif secured 96 votes in the 342-seat National Assembly on Friday.

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar announced the name of the Leader of the House after vote count.

Khan needed a simple majority of 172 to take power.

The newly elected Prime Minister, Imran Khan has announced strict accountability for those who plundered national exchequer in his first address in the National Assembly as PM.

Addressing the National Assembly amid chaos and cheering, Prime Minister Imran Khan thanked Allah Almighty and the nation for electing him to power to bring change in the country.

He also promised to bring back the looted wealth and massive reforms in electoral laws.

He said that the first thing he would do was strict accountability of those people who have looted the country and no one would get NRO.

He also promised the nation that the change we will bring, it is the change that this country was hoping and praying for.
